MPL maintains a circulating collection of books, audiobooks (on tape and on CD), videos and DVDs, and magazines for adults, teens, and children that may be checked out by patrons who hold an active Middletown Public Library card.

MPL also maintains a collection of reference books, encyclopedia, and atlases; daily newspapers; and microfilm of the local paper, Press & Journal, that may be used in the library.

Internet Access and Public-Use Computers

From home PCs, anyone may browse the MPL catalog. Current cardholders may also access their own library accounts to place holds or renew items.

In the library, visitors may use one of our public-use computers to search the internet, set up and access a personal e-mail account, or use any of several popular Microsoft applications such as Word or Excel.

The library also offers wireless access to the internet.

Library Catalog

MPL in collaboration with Hershey Public Library and The Lois High Berstler Community Health Library formed the Community Libraries Information Consortium (CLIC), which contracted with Polaris Library Systems to provide an online integrated library system that includes the catalogs of each of these libraries. This collaboration gives library patrons access to the holdings of each of the three libraries, both at the library or through the internet, as well as access to their own accounts.

Your Account

Cardholders may manage their accounts, checking due dates and renewing items, and may place holds on materials from any of the three libraries.

In addition to school-year programs, MPL —in association with The Friends of Middletown Public Library and other sponsors—offers a full Summer Reading Club for all ages.  In addition to take-home reading challenges, the Club presents weekly special programs, prizes, and an end-of-summer picnic.
